In the final bracket pairings, (9-2) Elkin will play (2-7-1) Union Academy.

The endowment game loss, against Charlotte Latin, did not come off the win/loss stat. But, it did not make any difference in the seeding.

Elkin rolls on with a 52-0 win. Nothing but pure dominance on both sides of the ball. Next opponent will be either North Duplin or Cherokee.

Union Academy. Whew! Man oh man. Saw them play West Stanly. An average JV team at best. And I mean average. Should be playing in a little 8-man league somewhere.

Elkin moves on with a 26-0 win over North Duplin.

This Friday will show how good of a team Elkin is this year. The (11-2) Elks will be competing against (10-2) Robbinsville. This is the team that Elkin met in the 3rd round last and won by a score of 21-20. In the third round the game rises to a higher level. But, it does feel good to be playing on Thanksgiving.

Another game I am sure will be interesting in Surry County, is (10-3) Princeton visiting the defending 1A state champs (13-0) Mt. Airy Bears.

Robbinsville comes to Elkin being a run first, smash mouth football team. That will battle you in the trenches. The main threat that Elkin will have to contend with is #11 Kurt Odom. He is averaging 194 yards per game. Their are others that can carry the ball and Robbinsville has shown they can pass the ball. But, mainly it is run the ball and let the defense come up with big plays in order to create good field postion for the team.

Well Elkin had a good year. I thought they might be able to pull this one off. I guess not.

Robbinsville stats where to overwhelming with the Senior team that they had. Good news is that majority of the Elkin players will be back for another year.

Sixteen will return out of twenty four starters. The Seniors on the squad where 4 DB/WR, 2 LB/RB, and 2 DL/OL. But the defense will not be hurting as much because there are Juiiors returning as 6 DL/OL, 2 DL/TE, 3 LB/RB, 2 DB/WR and Ethan Creed who is the QB/DB. Then one cannot forget Tre and Jermaine Hayes, both Sophomores, that contrubted heavily to the offense. Plus, I will have to see what players will be moving up from the JV squad.
