They are sitting at 1-1.

Can they compete with Elkin and the likes? I don't know enough about Alleghany to say.

It became tougher for Alleghany. They are apart of the new 1A/2A Mountain Valley Conference. They are use to Elkin, East Wilkes and West Wilkes from the old 1A conference. But, now you have to add Starmount, Wilkes Central, and Ashe County, who were the top three teams from their old 2A conference. Plus, the addition of Forbush (better than last year) and North Wilkes (team Allegany should beat) are in this new conference.

Alleghany is 3-1. Someone needs to launch a full scale investigation in Sparta. They must have stole some players from Elkin!!! Just kidding!

They should have been 4-0. But the opening loss to North Stokes should have never happened. Alleghany had186 yards rushing and 48 yards passing with one interception. But, playing on a rainy night also led to 4 fumbles in which North Stokes was able to capatilize. Alleghany is off this Friday but does have a winnable game against Wilkes Central (1-2), their game this Friday against North Wilkes will tell how the team is playing.

I made my way up to Sparta today and found out how good Alleghany has become. On offense they like to spread the field. This way it opens them up for the run. As of today the RB Sebastian Sandavol has carried 155 times for 734 yards and 5 TDS. The QB Dustin Billings as carried 44 times for 287 yards and 4 TDS and is 15 for 37 and 194 yards passing and 3 touchdowns. Alleghany has a reserved QB Hunter Greene who has entered the game at 20 for 46 and 435 yards passing. By running the spread, it allows Alleghany to pass the ball when defenses put 8 in the box and try to stop the run.

One good thing about the spread, it makes it very difficult to stack the box. You CAN run out of the spread.
