I wonder if Bruce Hardin will stay at providence day when the guy who hired him and told him he wanted him to take the program to the next level, just got fired? What do you think Dale will he stay or go?

Bruce Hardin isn't going anywhere for the record. And the headmaster resigned effective June 30. PDS has recently announced an outstanding new interim headmaster from the Sidwell Friends School in Washington DC where the Obama children attend. He is a former coach who fully supports competitive high school athletics.  PDS picks up Catholic in football next season. Just the facts.

Providence has a great football program, I think if Coach Hardin can't turn it around, then no one can. They will probably have some of the public school
players in the area come back to Providence and some others will take interest as well. Just a hunch.

Cowboy, could be a long night for PDS when they play Catholic this year.

Why would you say that? PDS has been very impressive in 7 on 7 play this spring (just ask Latin and CCDS) and they put up some serious points on Butler. Coach Hardin in year three will kick this program into high gear. PDS has 23 seniors and a much stronger and bigger offensive line plus an excellent kicking game returning.

Only problem Cowboy is that 7-on-7 doesn't really tells us anything about what will happen in the fall when pads are pulled on and we start hitting. A kid that throws a nice ball given 3-5 seconds might crumble when he has to throw it in 2 seconds. I've seen a lot of 7-on-7 in my day. And what I saw happen in 7-on-7 didn't translate very well to the field. Sure you can see who the athletes are, if they are out there playing in the 7-on-7.

I'm just saying, don't get your hopes up high because you scored a lot of points on Butler in a 7-on-7.

Fair comments and the schedule is tough with only four home games and adding Catholic. But 22 seniors makes a difference, the middle school team last year beat both Latin and CCDS handily and the offensive line has grown up (big size issues last year). Time will tell no question but this is an improving program.

Losing coaches Hastings (HC @ AK) and Collins (HC @ Hough) will be tough to replace. Both should do well at their respective schools.

Gentleman; I have attended several of the private schools 7on 7’s events. I would like some opinion from the group about the Ist Assembly’s /Hickory Groves and some other small schools. Anybody pay much attention to the little fish in the big old pond of 4A.

What did you think? I've never seen any of the schools you listed.

Deep Purple I am interested in this group as well. The MAC Conference especially. If you can make it I suggest the Hickory Grove Jamboree on the 14th I believe. I read about it in the observer, in the article about Cannon school. So far I have heard:

-First Assembly- Loaded again, favorites

-Hickory Grove- New Coach (Coach Kean) comes from Mt. Pleasant. Wide open offense most likely. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/20...ingly.html

-SouthLake- haven't heard much..struggled last year.

- Northside Christian- New Coach Quentin Hines from Waddell. Bring back the majority of there team.Young squad.

- Westminster Catawba- New coach, very solid last season.

who have you seen in person so far?

Ive seen Hickory Grove a couple of times: Very good QB Tall throws hard. Quicker than average recievers. Suspect on the corners defense wise. Anyone throwing out of the backfield with a scat back could make gains.

AS you said NorthSide will have a tough year unless the usual happens...injuy at key positions at other schools.

Southlake is small again but more kids than last year. They have more speed than last year.Outstanding WO 6'2" who is very tough. They have a pretty good weight program thats in the 2nd year.

First Assembly lost alot of kids but they had number anyway. They should be at the top or near it. If they falter Westminster or darkhorse Soutlake could be successful.

I'll be at the Jamboree on the 14th as well.
