Mooresville wins N.C. 3A title
Allison, Deaton take individual crowns

Mooresville followed its boys' N.C. 3A cross country championship from the fall with a boys' N.C. 3A track and field title on Saturday.
The two championships were the first for the Blue Devils in those sports.
Mooresville scored 60 points. Asheville (45.5), Winston-Salem Carver (42), Nash Central (38) and Winston-Salem Parkland (35) rounded out the top five. Defending champion Northern Nash was tied for 32nd with seven points.
Leading Mooresville was Jamel Allison, who won his second straight triple jump title -- this time with a leap of 48-feet, 2 1/2 inches -- and Jake Deaton, who won the discus with a throw of 143-5.
Allison was also third in the long jump (22-3) and Deaton was fifth in the shot put (50-8 1/2).
Before the meet, Mooresville had only won four individual titles in state meet history.
Patrick Campbell placed in two events, finishing third in the 1,600 meters (4 minutes, 27.88 seconds) and fourth in the 3,200 meters (9:33.93).
