ok...can we start talking about next season now? lol. i expect a huge improvement all over the place for us. The biggest difference will be the weight room. We will be stronger next year...and hopefully that will translate in our defense being better. Our young kids will have a lot of experience under their belts, with a full offseason of work outs, and not having to learn a new system should help 2. Early guess...7-4 record? Conference wins against Bailey (new school), Lake Norman, maybe hopewell and/or n meck...depending on how much bailey draws out from those schools, and vance? |

Bailey Road High School wil draw mostly from North Mecklenberg. The Mooresville team next year should be an improved team. This year there are only 3 maybe 4 starting Seniors on the field and none of them is on the defense. The starting defensive line is 3 Sophomores and 1 Freshman. These stats came while at the Hopewell game while talking to the guys I went with and other fans around us. Besides the JV squad has been playing pretty good football. So, they will be more accustomed to the system as some of those players move up next year. We all have to remember the coach had only 5 months to develop a game plan and get to know the players he had to work with. The off season will be key in determing the upcoming 2010 season. How well will the coach be able to get the players in the weight room in order for them to develop into better players? |

Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. But, God gave us Today, that is why it is called the "Present". |

First of all no matter how many people the new school draws it will not impact Juniors and Seniors. Second, weightroom work takes years of work to see results...
7-4? Mooresville plays the same schedule next season. You might pick up a few non-conference wins?In Conference I don't know. Why don't you wait until it is actually time to roll the basketballs out. |

i think 7-4 is reasonable...NWC i dont think will be much without cannon, Bandys loses pretty much every stud they have, west rowan will be a loss, i think we can beat AC next year, we should have beaten them this year (if we are playing them still...and all this is assuming our out of conference schedule is the same)...so whats that...3-1 out of conference? Mallard Creek and West Charlotte are probable losses, Hopewell will be much improved from this year so i will could that as an L, N Meck i dont know who is graduating and/or going to the new school...assuming they graduate some of their key players i think thats a predicted win for us...i think we will beat bailey, and beat lake norman, and Vance. Thats where i came up with the 7 wins. Also keep in mind, we have a ton of good talent on our JV team...couple 6'4" recievers, i think we have a TE/DL thats a sophomore on Varsity thats 6'5", and with O'Brien still at QB...i think we could be pretty potent on offense. but we HAVE to be able to run the ball...which we havent been able to do as of late. i think 7-4 is a fairly reasonable prediction...gotta figure theres a few games we coulda/should won this year so far...atleast 3 of them. until the hopewell game...we really have played better than our winless record would show (or atleast i think so). |

ok, so lets get this topic cranked up again. 2009 was a tough year...no denying that. But the team itself was far better than their record. we just have to learn how to close out a game. injuries hurt us late in the year, and i think a lot of it was because of fatigue. I think the play calling on offense and defense was greatly simplified for this year due to the lack of knowledge and experience with a spread offense. i think you'll see a dramatic change next year. im still going to predict 7 win next season. we bring back a lot of starters, and the defense was starting to come around towards the end of the year. there were glimmers of whats to come in the future, and it wont all happen at once...but the talent and potential is definately there. With the experience this years team got, the talent/size on our JV team moving up, and a full year under the belts for coach mccurry to better learn his team, i think we can be real good next year. |

Too many questions need to be answered. 7-4? I couldn't go that far without more information. JV moving up etc means nothing apparently. They moved up from previous years and they've been good for as long I can remember anyone talking about them.
E.H.S is right, it is all going to depend on off-season workout. As Mooresville has seen the I-MECK is no cake walk. Don't be surprised if it is an even tougher conference next year. |

remember...there were 4 or 5 teams we had on the ropes this year that we "let off the hook" as dennis green would say. Vance, West Charlotte, Alexander Central, North Meck, Lake Norman, and Bandys...those are all games that we had leads in at halftime or later...and lost. Cant say the talent isnt there...we just need to mature, and learn how to finish. my biggest concern throughout the season was our problem on stopping teams on 3rd and long, and 3rd and really long. We have struggled keeping teams from getting 1st downs in those situations. And that killed our defense. I think the last 2 weeks, north meck and lake norman, we went to more of a ball control type offense....and that seemed to really help the defense alot...kept them more fresh. like i said, i still think 7-4 or 6-5 is reasonable. Assuming our schedule is the same (minus hibriten, since that slot is going to be that bailey high school next season), weve got a fairly winnable out of conference schedule. NW Cabbarrus i think will be down, particularly when Cannon graduates, Bandys loses just about every play maker they have, Alexander Central will be a tough game...but winnable (hell we should have won that one this year), west rowan will be a loss, but it will be interesting to see how well they are without KP. thats a potential 3-1 out of conference mark? then in the I meck...we wont even be close to mallard creek (give them the i meck title again), We can beat lake norman (they are going to be in the situation we had this year, next season. with all the youth), Vance i think is a toss up, but winnable (im giving mooresville the win), i dont think we will sneak up on west charlotte next year, N Meck loses a lot to graduation this year, so i think we can win that one, and hopewell will be really really really good next year if they can develope some consistancy, so thats a loss, and i think we will beat Bailey. That gives us a 4-3 mark in conference...added with my predicted 3-1 out of conference and you get 7-4 (or 6-5, like i said, i think vance will be a toss up). I think that is being reasonable...and maybe other mooresville fans could shed some light on whether they think my predictions are close/reasonable. |
